Our journey as the owners of Agriturismo La Manderà began in 1998. Lured by the charm of Rocca di Cave and united by a mutual passion for horse breeding, we decided to leave the bustle of Rome behind for the tranquility of the countryside. By 2008, we had transformed the farm into the thriving agriturismo that stands today. We’ve chosen a life characterized by independence and a deep connection to nature. Whether it's a serendipitous encounter with wildlife or a peaceful afternoon gathering chestnuts, our farm provides an intimate experience with nature that stands apart from conventional jobs. We find joy in the smallest victories here: like a bountiful harvest, or the birth of a foal. We try to infuse our work with a healthy sense of humor, and hope our guests enjoy the rewarding aspects of farm life here at La Manderà.
Spend time on the farm with Anna or her 86-year old mother, Giuseppina, planting green beans, harvesting chestnuts, sowing eggplants, or foraging mushrooms in the forest below Rocca di Cave. Learn how to prepare the harvest, then enjoy the results with a glass of wine (or two).
TIMING: Weekdays 10AM-12PM or 3PM-5PM, suitable work clothes required
PRICE: 70 euros per person (8 people max) to participate in the harvest, cooking class, and meal
For a more immersive experience, come stay on the farm for three to seven days. Spend four hours each morning working the land: whether in the gardens, with the donkeys, in the horse stables, or feeding the chickens. Afterwards, enjoy Anna and Angelo’s hospitality and home cooking (including the regional specialty pasta, gnoccacci), cool off with a swim in the pool, and explore the rest of what the Monti Prenestini have to offer.
